There is a store in Paris named Pier Imports. There are two that I know about. 1, Rue Rivoli, (01 40 29 04 99), and 55, Avenue Gén Leclerc in the 14éme (01 43 22 18 16). They have some interesting stuff.

What about getting different tea sets from brocantes? It would be kind of a vintagy collection of different sets. Just an idea....I'm going to a brocante a week from Sunday (April 27), I could take a look for you.

Gab, Louise and I LOVE going to Ikea and having a meatball lunch! It's sometimes our rainy day activity on a weekend.

Can't wait to see the new additions to the café! (PS, wanted to come by tomorrow afternoon but I have to go meet with a parent and the school counselor then we're heading to Brittany for a week, but I am definitely planning on heading over the week after that to work on these papers due beginning of May)

See you soon!

Terry

May you have many, many more days like this! What a wonderful vignette of your day w. Max!

I can imagine maximilien, in turbo mode, chasing the ball and it makes me smile.

The Bold Soul

I just shopped at the Pier Imports at Rue Rivoli (right next to the metro at Saint Paul) and they have a lot of nice stuff but no where near as many dishes as the Pier ONE Imports store in the States. I did score a couvre for our ugly old sofa and a small table we are using temporarily as a coffee table -- just in time for all the different guests coming through our house this past week! But check it out anyway, you might find some cute stuff.

Also perhaps Habitat? There's one at that big shopping center in Montparnasse near the Gare.

Pauline

I don't think the Pier Import is any better quality than Ikea and Habitat is quite expensive.

Why not go just for plain white porcelain (there are tons of these shops all over Paris that sell everything from cups, t finger bowls and plates in all sizes. You could mix and match different sizes and shapes and this could look stylish with colored tablecloth/napkins.

I found this site too:

Hi There, I've been reading your blog here and there for awhile, as it was link to a couple of other blogs I read and I at first I was like Oh. It's all about her baby (being 22 babies aren't really my thing). But finally went back and read it from the beginning. I must say, your monthly letters to Max and your mother bring me to tears. I know my mother loves me, but I wish I had something like that to look back on as an adult. It's really made me appreciate my mother in a different light. Have you ever thought about taking your posts about Max and putting them in a scrap book? As I get ready to move to Paris as well for the next few years it's really good to share some of your experiences as I head into my own adventure. Bonne chance a ton cafe. I can't wait to visit sometime!
