Seeing the world

January 9, 2007 - Shooting Blind III

This is part of a series I shot tonight of myself for My 2007 Daily Photo Dairy. Shooting blind. I've never done this before. My eyes in this one don't seem like my own. How about a close up on my pregnancy induced freckles? And I just liked this one.

The real story behind the though process of these photos:

I made a new aquaintance yesterday and she's already made an impact on my life.  She's my neighbor. Well, she lives in the building next to mine in the same apartment complex. I was crossing the street yesterday to catch the bus to work and I noticed a woman about to walk out in the middle of the street. Then I noticed that she was blind and probably didn't see the car that was speeding towards her.  I was on the other side of the street and I ran to curb and yelled "Madam, il y a une voiture!!" She stopped. I crossed the street and offered her my assistance which she gladly took.  I found out that she was headed to the same bus stop as I was and we were actually heading in the same direction.  I found out that she has a 4 year old daughter that she was going to pick up from school right on the same street where I work. I offered to her that we go together everyday since we leave at the same time.  She gladly said yes. I was happy to have the company.  Upon boarding the bus I couldn't stop thinking about how she sees the world through her other senses. Tears came to my eyes as I looked at her admiringly.  She turned towards me right at that moment and asked me if  I was ok? She touched my hand which was resting near by and said that she was glad to have met me. And that she sensed that I'd be a good mother. I hadn't told her I was pregnant.  It looks like we are going to be able to help one another.  I can help her by lending her the use of my eyes and she's already helped me by just making me see more clearly.

After living in Paris for nearly 4 years, I've just made friends with my first neighbor.

Week 25, a week of changes.

Good Morning!

25 weeks

This week marks my 25th week of pregnancy! I can't believe it. This are starting to feel like they are going to go fast now.  Physically, I feel great. Though I've lost all gracefulness in all my movements. Putting my hands on my back feels good  when I walk and Julien calls me his little penguin now.  My hair is growing at an amazing pace! It was now or never to grow my hair out again. Though it probably won't be practical with a new baby to have long hair, I'm enjoying it for now. And I've noticed that I have a little duvet as my husband calls it on my stomach.  Peach fuzz.  The baby is moving more and more and I notice that he startles when there's a loud noise. And he really digs kicking my rib cage which I don't find very cool when I'm trying to sleep.  Sleeping has gotten a little better. I've added a couple more pillows to the bed/nest and try to meditate before heading off to sleep.  I've been having dreams about what the birthing experience will be like. A friend of mine gave me this amazing book called Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin.  I've been thinking about a natural birth. I want to try to experience everything to its fullest, if possible. After reading the birthing experiences of these women it really motivates me to give it a try.  I want this birth to be a spiritual and sensual experience for me.

So, this has been a week of changes.  My body has drastically taken a new, even more bulbous shape which I love.  No changes in my relationship with Julien, it feels strong and happy like it usually does.  Our apt is starting to get organized. Our armoire was delivered yesterday and it's perfect! The baby's bedroom is cleaned and prepared to be put together.  I sat in the empty room contemplating this new life we're going to bring into this world.  How lucky we are to have all that we do.  How lucky I am to be surrounded by so much love.  I  breath in and savor every moment.  This is only the beginning...

Self Portrait Tuesday: Introduce Yourself

It feels good to be girly....

Where to start? What don't you know already?  Let's move away from what you have read on my blog, let's see if I can surprise you. I'm the oldest of five. I am half Korean. I love talking on the phone with my girlfriends. The more mundane the subject the better. Talked about magnet paint today and it set my mind spinning on all the possibilities. I love my husband with ever fiber of my being. My birthday is this month. I'll be 29. I love wearing flats. Hope they never go out of style. Even if they do, I will still wear them.  I love talking skincare. I dream of riding my childhood bike again. A pink Schwinn ten speed bike.  I love being different. I don't like it when people point out that I'm different. I'm learning that life gets easier as you break it in. Like a pair of new shoes.

Self Portrait Tuesdays (I'm goofy) - All of me

Still being goofy in my Turtleneck Shrug

I try to be serious. Funny. Stoic. In all reality, I am just a goofy person. I love to laugh. I love to see other's laugh especially when you see the tears well up because it's just so good. So, next time you see me I'll try to make you laugh. I promise.
